IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING REGISTRATIONS FOR THE WINTER 2008 / 2009 SEASON
Registration forms handed out at the General Meeting on Wednesday 9thJuly, must be returned on or before the following General Meeting on Wednesday 13thAugust. Failure to do so may result in your team missing out on a place for the Winter 2008 / 2009 Season.
Due to the much-publicised number of pub closures in the area, it is proposed that the Plungington & District Pool League be reduced to Five Divisions containing ten teams in each. This allows entry for Fifty Teams (as apposed to the usual Sixty), and this will eliminate the high number of Bye fixtures that had to be incorporated during the Summer 2008 Season.
Therefore would Team Captains please ensure your Registration Forms are returned on time. If you require any further information, then please contact the Committee.
LEAGUE REGULATIONS AND GAME RULES
As there have been no changes to either the League Regulations or Games Rules, neither will be issued at the beginning of the season. However, any team that requires a copy of either or both can be provided with them by request. They are also available online at the League Website.
PLAYERS PLAYING IN OTHER LEAGUES
A number of problems where encountered last season with players playing in other Leagues on the same night as well as playing in the Plungington Pool League. The committee would like to remind players and Captains of Regulation 4F:
Any player registered with the Plungington And District Pool League must not play in any other league on the same evening. This applies to league games, cup games and individual and doubles competitions. Appropriate action will be taken on any player doing so, and this may result in that player being banned from the League.
Due to the problems incurred last season, the Committee will take action against players or teams who are guilty of the above. As well as facing a possible ban, players who have played elsewhere will be classed as ineligible, and where appropriate winning scores will be reversed.
PLAYING OF NON-REGISTERED PLAYERS
Can the Committee once again remind Team Captains not to play non-registered players. There is little point as every frame played is recorded and the player will be found. There is a two-point penalty for playing a non-registered player, and where necessary the score is reversed. Action will be taken against teams who consistently ignore this regulation.
LEGIBILITY OF SCORE CARD ENTRIES
Please will Team Captains ensure that scorecards are correctly filled in and most importantly that player’s names are legible. There have been a number of problems where player’s names are illegible on scorecards, and this leads to administration and merit points awarding problems. Players who file illegible entries are classed as ineligible, and as a result incur a points penalty, and where necessary a score reversal.
